What an amazing time we had in Pilanesburg. The Lee's and I left on Monday morning for three days in the Game Reserve. The park was so beautiful. I had never seen it so green. Brent was an excellent guide. He knew where to find the animals. On the first afternoon we were stopped by elephants in the road shortly after entering the park. I could not believe how many times we spotted animals right next to the road or on the road.
We headed to a watering hole and saw 3 hippos out of the water and 7 in the water.
As we were watching 2 elephants approach we noticed two lions in the bush.
As the elephants neared, the lions jumped up and moved a short distance. When it began to rain and the elephants had passed the lion went back to find shelter under the bush. We saw a red hardebeast, zebra, impala, water buck, 4 more elephants, and 3 more lions at the Pilanesburg center laying under a tree, wart hogs and kudu.
Tuesday morning we entered the park around 7 and ran into this big guy
All together we saw 9 Rhinos!!!!! I have never seen so many at one time. Then we saw a total of 10 giraffe
We spotted elephants 4 times, first one alone, then 3 in the water, and 2 on the road, and then 2 in the bush
We talked to a game vehicle who was looking at 3 lions and 4 cubs in the bush but we couldn't see them.
Then more wart hogs
kudu
water buck, zebra, and wildebeest
On the way out of the park this guy and another elephant were blocking the cars. Brent waited about 15 minutes for the car ahead of us to pass him and finally he decided to go around the elephant. Boy was I praying that the elephant continued to eat and not worry about us passing him.
On the third day we entered the park around 7 am again. We saw a total of 4 rhino, 8 elephants, 4 or 5 giraffe, water buck, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, and a crocodile, and a jackle.
Brent had to stop to get a turtle out of the middle of the road
Then we came across a car that had been pulled over for an hour waiting for a couple of elephants to move. Well, once again Brent waited a while then drove right up to the elephants to see if we could pass
This was the view from my window in the back seat as we slowly drove past this big guy
Never a dull moment with Brent at the wheel!!!
COME AWAY WITH ME
